The Reading Intervention program at OWN is designed to enhance critical reading skills using the Leveled Reading Intervention program (LLI) designed by Fountas and Pinnell.

With the LLI program, students will learn a variety of reading strategies to develop fluency, vocabulary and comprehension skills. Further topics include question and answer relationships, inferential thinking, determining main ideas and supporting details, drawing conclusions, analyzing author's purpose, tone, and evaluating a variety of texts.

In reading class, students will explore content-area material that connects to their studies in their classes as well.

Ongoing assessment is a part of the LLI reading program, which helps determine their reading growth.

At the end of this course, students will be able to comprehend, analyze, and respond effectively to materials across other disciplines.
